In May 2022, Avatar News reported that Avatar Studios was developing an animated film that would act as a prequel to Avatar: The Last Airbenderas well as a second film focusing on the fan-favorite Last Airbender character Zuko. The outlet now reports that the aforementioned prequel film will focus on Avatar Kyoshi. According to Avatar Newsthe Kyoshi film is slated for release in 2024, while the Zuko film is scheduled for 2025. Along with the Korra film’s 2026 release window, however, these are subject to change.

All that being said, while Avatar News speculates that the Legend of Korra follow-up film will indeed focus on Korra herself, it has been unable to explicitly confirm as much at the time of writing. “I should note that these are all very high-level descriptions… I don’t know the exact focus of the Korra era movie, although I’d personally be willing to bet it will be Korra herself,” the outlet explained. “But ultimately, I guess I should put a disclaimer that I don’t know that level of detail, except for the specific case of the Zuko movie being about Zuko himself. Technically, I don’t know that the Kyoshi movie will ‘star’ her, but I can’t really imagine it won’t.. .”

Avatar News also clarified that “this is just a snapshot of Avatar Studios’ CURRENT plans — their NOT announced, NOT confirmed plans. I wouldn’t announce or confirm anything this early either, and there’s a good reason they aren’t — they haven’t ‘t even revealed their first ever movie yet… That being said, this is legit info and not just speculation/guessing, and it also might NOT change. I think release dates are honestly highly likely to change, but I don’t think it would be unlikely if the three high-level concepts of Kyoshi/Zuko/Korra stay the same.”

A critically-acclaimed animated series that maintains a strong fan base to this day, Avatar: The Last Airbender originally aired for three seasons on Nickelodeon from 2005 to 2008. The Legend of Korraa sequel series set 70 years later, ran for four seasons on Nickelodeon (later Nick.com) from 2012 to 2014.
