Mets’ July 15 game against Cubs postponed

CHICAGO – The Mets-Cubs game on Friday afternoon at Wrigley Field was postponed due to inclement weather.

The game will be made up as part of a split doubleheader (2:20 pm ET and 8:05 pm ET) on Saturday at the Friendly Confines.

A day after welcoming back All-Stars Starling Mars and Jeff McNeil, New York was aiming to extend its two-game win streak following an 8-0 victory against the Cubs on Thursday. Carlos Carrasco pitched six shutout innings, and Home Run Derby participant, Pete Alonso, went deep in the eighth inning.

The Mets entered Friday with a 2 1/2-game lead in the National League East over the Atlanta Braves, and they will look to finish out the first half of the strong season with three games left until the All-Star break.

Taijuan Walker will start opposite former Mets right-hander Marcus Stroman in Game 1, and Max Scherzer will draw Cubs lefty Drew Smyly in the nightcap.

For the Cubs, separate tickets are required for each game of the doubleheader. Fans will be required to exit the ballpark after the completion of the first game. Mobile tickets via the MLB Ballpark app will automatically update with the makeup game information. No ticket exchange is necessary.
