Help shape the future of Business Assistance Center – Welcome to the City of Fort Worth

Published on July 11, 2022

The City of Fort Worth is exploring ways to adapt programming and the resources currently provided at the Devoyd Jennings Business Assistance Center to ensure that it meets the evolving needs of the city’s small-business community.

The BAC is currently home to the city’s Economic Development Department, in addition to other partners that are part of Fort Worth’s small-business ecosystem, including the Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce, Southeast Fort Worth Inc., Regional Hispanic Contractor, Tarrant Small Business Development Center, SCORE Fort Worth and others. The BAC is also part of the larger James E. Guinn Entrepreneurial Campus, which includes organizations like TechFW and Accelerate DFW.

The city’s Economic Development Department is expected to move into the new City Hall at 100 Energy Way once construction is complete on the former Pier 1 Imports building, leaving behind empty offices and other spaces that might be given new purpose through new or expanded programs, partnerships or in other innovative ways.

To help determine what the future of the BAC will look like, the Economic Development Department is partnering with FUSE Executive Fellow, Kay West, to work on building the BAC’s capacity in an equitable way, so it is well-equipped to assist new generations of small-business owners through their entrepreneurial journeys.

As part of that effort, the Economic Development Department is seeking feedback on what the community would like to see in an equitable, robust Business Assistance Center, which will in turn further grow and strengthen Fort Worth’s growing entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Residents are asked to complete the Business Assistance Center Survey and provide feedback before Aug. 1.
