Lindsay Lohan Back in Rehab fighting Oxy Habit
According to E Online, Lindsay Lohan made her second trip to rehab this year on May 28 after a weekend which included crashing her Mercedes, getting arrested on suspicion of DUI, and being photographed slumped down in the passenger seat of a friend’s car. With Lohan’s quick return to rehab, her estranged father, Michael Lohan, talked to E Online and explained that his daughter suffers from multiple addictions, which include the powerful painkiller, OxyContin. “I spoke to the people treating Lindsay, because I wanted to make sure she was getting the right care. And I’m satisfied they are doing the right thing for her, helping her detox from the painkillers and things. That’s a very important step.” Even though Michael and Lindsay don’t speak, Michael knows what she’s going through as he was just released from a New York state prison in March after serving two years for DUI and other charges. He said that he is currently studying to become a drug-rehab counselor with the faith-based organization Teen Challenge.
A representative for Lindsay Lohan revealed to TMZ, “Lindsay admitted herself to an intensive medical rehabilitation facility on Memorial Day. Because this is a medical matter, it is our hope that the press will appreciate the seriousness of the situation and respect the privacy of Lindsay as well as the other patients receiving treatment at the facility.”
As Lindsay is once again in rehab, her latest role in the film Poor Things, alongside Shirley MacLaine, is now uncertain. In a statement released by MacLaine and co-producer Rob Hickman, they revealed that Lindsay still wants to work on the project. “We are trying to rearrange the shooting schedule to facilitate her working at the end of the shoot to coincide with the completion of her rehabilitation.”
In addition to the fallout over Lohan’s second stop at rehab in three months, her wild partying ways have come to the attention of California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, who want to know how Lindsay, age 20, could be served in the state while the official drinking age is 21. It’s reported that undercover agents have been hitting trendy celebrity watering holes in recent weeks trying to find out if Lohan was served alcohol before her weekend car crash. Also included in the investigation is the possibility that Lohan and her friends were served after hours. The law in California states that alcohol can not be served after 2 am, while video evidence shows Lindsay Lohan leaving Hollywood’s Les Deux club at 3:30 a.m. According to Les Deux owner Lonnie Moore, Lindsay stayed late to finish her dinner and wait for friends, but she wasn’t drinking.
California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control spokesman John Carr revealed that the agency informed the Beverly Hills Police Department it’s requesting witness reports and other evidence to determine if a formal investigation is warranted.
